Inching closer…
Project Leopard was getting the wiring done, but there was a deadline because Hung had to take care of stuff. He said maybe a couple more days and it can be done.
But Project Leopard went back to Arizona to get polished up.
Back to AZ (*UPDATE LATE 2023)
* AFTER THIS PICK UP TO BRING BACK TO AZ, THE CAR WASN’T TOUCHED UNTIL 2 DAYS BEFORE I ARRIVED. 2 MONTHS SINCE THE PICK UP AND GREG AGAIN DID A SHITTY JOB.
Ever since Project Leopard came back to LA in late 2021, it was a matter of time that it would go back to be redone. It was there for 16 months and it was dragging on. I gave Greg the deadline and he said it would be complete.
When the car came back, it was far from complete. I was totally devastated. Hood, aero and mirrors were missing. There were drips on both sides of the car and the running board wasn’t fixed as agreed. I was so distraught, I was torn on letting the car go back to AZ. It had to be taken cared of either way. But I offered Greg if he didn’t want to do it or have time for it, just refund me the last payment and I’ll figure something out.
So at the beginning of June, He picked up the car. The rear bumper got cracked unloading it at Thrice Engineering’s place, so he fixed it before the pick up. I also got another left side rear spat because the inner edge of the one I had was messed up.
Next Steps
In the middle of July, I plan to go to get the car in AZ and its suppose to be done. The plan might be to bring it back to LA and finish up. I’ll make sure of all that soon enough. The truth is, I want it all done before I bring back up to the bay area.
- Finish the engine bay wiring (fans)
- check the fuel pump wiring
- Hook up the LINK ECU and Wideband 02
- put in fuel lines/FPR
- Q45 TB gasket
Then it will be interior
- Digital dash
- fuel analog to digital
- gauges
- accessories
For the longest time, I was trying to figure out what to do with my 3rd brake light. I was trying to paint it and make in look nice. Something I haven’t seen in a long time crossed my path and I had to get it! I saw one of my friends 22yrs ago have one of these:
Red Sniper 3rd brake light!!!
Modifying the gas door was something on my mind. On my EK, I put on Sparco locking gas cap with funnel. I have this piece still and thought about doing it on Project Leopard.
Instead, I decided to go with a carbon fiber look originally. Since we are in the era of wraps, I thought about getting the traditional carbon fiber layover. For some reason, the guys I follow on IG were doing Forged Carbon fiber on gas doors and I ended up falling for that look. I originally didn’t like Forged Carbon Fiber, but when I saw that people added some color flakes, I thought it was cool and it grew on me. I asked them how much and everyone said around $300. I felt that was high for a gas door for how small it was, so I decided to order stuff myself and try it.
Added some silver flakes in there and while it is a new process to me, I felt it came out good. I definitely need to add another layer and sand it down. But I love it!
Anyways, I do have a few more things, but I will post them once I get to a better stage with them.
